Submit your online Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to receive your PERM number and PIN information.

Make sure your Final Transcripts and Test Scores are sent to Admissions.

Sign up for Financial Aid (if necessary).

Sign up for Housing (if necessary).

Sign up for Orientation or International Student Orientation (if necessary).

Complete and submit the Hepatitis B Immunity form and apply for a Health insurance waiver (if necessary).

Complete your online Statement of Legal Residence.

Veterans should file a Veteran's Benefit Request form.

2. Access GOLD to get your Appointment time for registering.
3. Prepare a Registration Worksheet.
4. View the Online Schedule of Classes for times and course offerings.
5. View the Online General Catalog for course descriptions and prerequisites (also available through GOLD).
6. View information about your major.
7. Review your college's academic requirements:

     Note: Your General Education requirements are based on the year that you first enrolled at UCSB (i.e., Catalog Year)
     

Attend Orientation and register for your classes there or register on GOLD. (DOWNLOAD: A PDF copy of the GOLD Registration process.)

Check for Registration Blocks on GOLD when you register.

Activate your U-Mail. U-Mail is UCSB's official student email service to which university business correspondence will be sent. If you already have an email account that you would rather use, you can have your U-Mail forwarded to your preferred email address. Pay your fees from your BARC statement by the deadline.

Update your address (and your parent's contact information) on GOLD.
Dorm addresses are updated by Housing & Residential Services.

Review your Personal Information on GOLD. (Changes should be reported to the Registrar’s office.)

1. Academic advising (if necessary).
2. Attend Department Meetings during the pre-instructional week in September before classes.
3. If you have not yet declared a major, attend the special meeting for undeclared students during pre-instructional week.
4. Attend Convocation.
5. Take Placement Exams (if necessary).
6. Go to ACCESS center to get your Student ID card.
7. Figure out how to get around: Parking permits, Bus service, Bike information.
8. If you are an international student, get information about services, immigration issues, and opportunities to share your culture with others.
9. Veterans (and their dependents) should meet with the Veterans' Representative at the Registrar's Office (if necessary).

11. Locate your classrooms before classes begin.
