Transfer Students attending UCSB College of Creative Studies

Dear new Transfer Students to the College of Creative Studies:

I am very pleased to welcome you as a new student in the College of Creative Studies. Your online New Student Profile has been prepared by the UCSB Office of Admissions in cooperation with our office. It lists all of your college-level courses that UCSB has accepted toward your degree for subject or unit credit. It also indicates whether you have satisfied the American History and Institutions and UC Entry Level Writing (formerly known as Subject A) requirements. Please review this information carefully, so that you are aware of requirements that you have not yet fulfilled. Please also read the section below entitled “Applying Transfer Work to Specific Requirements.”

As you choose your UCSB courses, you should avoid taking any course whose title or description is very similar to courses you have already completed. Credit is awarded for transfer work based on its similarity to courses within the University of California. Additional credit can be earned only in new and different courses. Credit will not be allowed for courses that substantially duplicate work already completed.

From your online New Student Profile, you will be able to move to the CCS website, which provides additional information about College requirements and your major requirements. Please read and pay particular attention to the “Student Handbook”, available on the CCS website.  Please refer to the “Student Handbook” throughout your career at UCSB.

You should have received a packet of materials from the College of Creative Studies, including the name of your faculty advisor. You are required to meet with your faculty advisor at least once per quarter. If you did not receive this information, please let us know.

Should you have any questions about your academic requirements and progress, please contact Leslie Campbell at (805) 893-5319 or at leslie.campbell@ccs.ucsb.edu.

I’m looking forward to meeting you when you come to the college.

Sincerely,
Bruce H. Tiffney
Dean, College of Creative Studies
