Information about students can be verified by any member of the public, unless
it is confidential. Read the Confidentiality
and Accessibility of Student Records: Federal Family Educational Rights
and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) for information about confidentiality of student
records. Verifications are often requested by potential employers.
The
following information is considered "public information" that may be
verified by the public-at-large:
- Name
- Address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Birthdate/Birthplace
- Dates of attendance
- Class level
- Date of graduation
- Degree and honors received
- Major field of study
- Minor field of study
- Emphasis
- Number of units currently enrolled
- Transfer work (last school, and dates of attendance)
- Official student organizations
The following information is CONFIDENTIAL
as set by the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act of 1974 (FERPA) and may only be requested by the student:
- Transcripts
- Educational Opportunity Program
- Scholarship recipient
- Financial Aid recipient
- Student's Perm number
- Student's Social Security Number
- Information about Parent or Guardian
- Residency status
- Names of student's instructors
- Grades in courses
- Grade Point Average (GPA)
- Grade points earned
- Units attempted
- Units completed
- Fees assessed or paid
- Current academic Status
- Past academic status
